Having seen the importance of tracking website traffic metrics, it’s only natural that we discuss the relevant web traffic tools used for website traffic analysis.

Like with most things related to digital marketing, there are free and premium tools. The one you decide to use will be determined by different factors, like the ease of use, financial implication, etc.

In this lesson, we will be discussing the different web traffic tools you can use to track your website traffic. Some of these tools are so advanced that not only can they track and analyze your website traffic but they can also track and analyze your competitor’s web traffic.

1. Google Search Console

Google Search Console is a free tool provided by Google that can be used to analyze search engine traffic. It shows the number of impressions, clicks, clickthrough rate (CTR), and the average position of the keyword in the search engine. 

This will help you understand which keywords you are ranking for and how much search volume they generate. This information can help you improve traffic. For example, if you find yourself in 11th position, you can adjust your blog post to try to move it to the first page of search results.

2.  Ahrefs

You can view key website metrics such as monthly traffic over a period of time, traffic breakdown by country, keywords that generate the most traffic, and domain summary statistics. 

The traffic analysis tab displays the number of unique visitors, total number of visits, average visit time, page views, and website bounce rate. This feature is similar to searching for a competitor’s Google Analytics account. 

Another great feature of SEMRush traffic analysis is called batch traffic analysis, which allows you to analyze the traffic of multiple competitors at the same time. You can compare up to 200 sites, depending on your plan. 

Outline your niche market, the most trafficked websites, and the traffic opportunities you can take advantage of. You can also find detailed traffic analysis reports to let you know which websites have sent the most conversions, which pages on their websites are the most valuable, and where they generate the most traffic. 

You can use a 14-day trial version or a limited free plan to access basic website data. If you want wide coverage, the premium plan starts at $119.95 per month, giving you full access to competing traffic sources, reviews, social media, and more.

4. SimilarWeb

SimilarWeb is an online website traffic checker that gives you an overview of competitors’ traffic and most valuable channels. Not only can you provide search traffic, but you can also get detailed reports on the company’s overall traffic strategy. This tool will provide you with a breakdown of total traffic, including reports broken down by country. 

You can get engagement metrics such as bounce rate, page views per visit, average visit duration, and maximum traffic.

In addition to regular search traffic, you will also discover which keywords drive website traffic and which social channels are the most important. Valuable and monetized advertising networks. The detailed classification of site visitors, which other sites they are interested in, which sites link most frequently, and a list of competing sites for further research.

If you want to analyze your own traffic, you should only use Google Analytics. However, setting up Google Analytics yourself and analyzing your own data can be difficult.
